The pregnancy manages to trigger factors that will eventually lead to gestational diabetes if the woman is not careful in monitoring her health. Women who have diabetes even before they get pregnant are different from those who develop gestational diabetes when they get pregnant. It is therefore important that all pregnant mother participate in screening around the 25th to 28th week of pregnancy unless they are of known to be of higher risk when earlier consultation with obstetric team / diabetes management team at from 12-14 weeks is important.

The Effect Of Gestational Diabetes

Gestational diabetes may be just for a limited amount of time but it can affect the health of the fetus or the mother if it is left untreated and unmanaged. There are several negative health implications for the fetus in particular if blood sugar levels remain uncontrolled throughout the pregnancy. Primarily the baby can suffer from several metabolic health complications. A condition known as macrosomia is common as a result of unmanaged blood sugar levels among newly born children. Macrosomia means the baby is born with an unusually high birth weight and it may cause complications during delivery. For instance, if your baby is very large, you may have a more difficult delivery or you may need a cesarean section.

Shortly after delivery, your baby may also have low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) because his body will still be producing extra insulin in response to receiving extra glucose from you. Low blood sugar can cause several health complications for the baby and is usually treated in the hospital with either a high glucose drink or injection. ‘Respiratory Distress Syndrome’ or other respiratory problems occur frequently in a child whose mother was diagnosed with gestational diabetes as well. A minor complication known as jaundice, which is characterized by the slight discoloration of the baby’s eyes and skin, is also not unusual.

What can I do if I have gestational diabetes?

It’s important that you control your blood sugar level. Controlling and monitoring blood glucose levels should be the cornerstone of any diabetes management regiment for women diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Women should use a blood glucose testing meter and test their blood sugar regularly, several times a day.

You can manage gestational diabetes by eating healthy foods, exercising regularly and, if necessary, taking medication. Taking good care of yourself can help ensure a healthy pregnancy for you and a healthy start for your baby.

Being well rested allows you to think clearly and act energetically. Unfortunately, millions of people suffer insomnia, experiencing the tiredness, dull mindedness, irritability, and many other negative effects that result from lack of shut-eye. Our lives tend to be busy, often from the moment we wake up until the moment we go to sleep. Our brains need time to decompress from all the thinking we make them do during waking hours. But an overloaded brain that continues working hard after you lie down at night will not let you get the rest you need.

Instead, your mind keeps churning as you toss and turn. Your thoughts turn to worries, and you start fretting about everything that comes to mind. You worry especially about how horrible you’re going to feel tomorrow after getting no sleep tonight.

Insomnia may have any of a number of causes – emotional, mental, or physical. Menopausal women, in particular, often suffer from sleeplessness.

If you suffer from insomnia, for whatever reason, consider taking some easy steps towards eliminating this nasty sleep-thief. Here’s how.

Changing your habits before bed is the key to better sleep.

Replace any habitual activities that tend to raise your energy level or challenge your brainwaves with simply relaxing rituals. Take a bubble bath. Put on soothing music. Cuddle with your partner.

Journal.

Give yourself a few minutes right before bedtime to write in your journal. Write whatever you wish, remembering that re-connecting with a peaceful place is your purpose for right now. You may want to reflect on the events of your day, or explore one thing that happened, or take a tangent somewhere else entirely and pour out a fantasy or a new idea.

Therapeutic Journaling at the end of the day is a way to clear the mind of thoughts and worries and to frame your day positively. Writing “Night Notes” in your journal will help you process what happened during the day and let it go.

The content is far less important than the practice itself, which will quickly begin to cure your insomnia.

Here are three suggestions for clearing your mind.

1. Write down anything that is haunting your thoughts. What’s on your mind?

You can’t do much about it now that it’s bedtime, so write it down to get it out of your head and onto the page. Documenting any loose ends allows your brain to relax instead of obsess. Whatever it is, you can deal with it tomorrow.

2. Write down your victories and gratitudes.

What things did you accomplish today, big and small? What are you thankful for today? Write down as many things as you can.

Reflecting on what you did accomplish today (rather than what you didn’t), and what blessings you have (rather than those you don’t), will help you contentedly drift off to sleep. Over time, this gratitude practice will get you in the habit of framing the events of your day in a positive manner, no matter what happens.

3. Close your entry with reflection or prayer that expresses any blessings or wishes you have on your mind.

Writing a quick reflection or prayer is a ritual for closing out the day intentionally and letting it go. As you shut your journal, let a sense of closure and peace come over you. As you close your eyes, let your mind go quiet, and let your muscles relax. Know that your day is complete, and your sleep will come easily.

The presence of a heavy or persistent vaginal discharge is a highly subjective phenomenon.

Some women can be uncomfortable with normal amount of vaginal discharge, while others may feel heavier discharge to be normal. It may also be presenting symptom of a woman who has an underlying psychosexual problem. There may be variation in amount of vaginal discharge during the course of a normal menstrual cycle. At the time of ovulation and sexual arousal there is increased amount of vaginal fluid. Physiological discharge may be sufficiently heavy to produce irritation. A blood stained discharge warrants investigation.
The use of oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy and pregnancy may cause increase in vaginal discharge.

Infection is the most common cause of unusual vaginal discharge.

Sexually transmitted disease is one of the main causes of persistent vaginal discharge. Changes in sexual attitudes, availability of contraceptives other than condoms and increased mobility of population have contributed to increase in the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases. When one is aware of the serious consequences of sexually transmitted disease especially the impact on human reproduction and fertility, the concern over this epidemic will be better appreciated.

Normal vaginal flora are dominated by lactobacilli of which a proportion will produce hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins that inhibit the over growth of other organisms, thereby protecting the body from infection.
However, the balance of vaginal flora and hence local immunity may be disturbed by the administration of antibiotics, trauma to skin following sexual intercourse, and by allergens causing sensitization of the mucous membrane.

Local immunity may also be influenced by the presence of other infection producing inflammation or change in microbial environment. In late pregnancy there is reduced immunity which makes the woman susceptible to infections like candidiasis.

Common Infections:

- Candidiasis is more likely in patients with immune suppression, endocrine abnormalities such as diabetes mellitus, diseases of thyroid and parathyroid and adrenal glands.Vaginal vulval irritation and itching is worse at night and causes pain during sexual intercourse. The discharge is thick and white having cottage cheese appearance.

- Gonorrhea causes vaginal /urethral discharge, dysuria, and pelvic pain. Gonococcus infects the cervix, urethra, rectum and pharynx depending on site of exposure. It is transmitted by direct sexual contact or by mutual masturbation. It can cause ascending or disseminated infection.

- Trichomanas vaginalis is another cause of malodorous vaginal discharge, itching and irritation.

- Chlamydia trachomatis infection exceeds that of gonorrhea and is most frequently reported communicable disease in the world.

- Herpes simplex virus in genital area is usually attributed to HSV Type 2 virus.HSV1 virus can also occur due to oro-genital contact with a partner having active HSV1lesions around the mouth. HSV infection causes a profuse mucopurulent discharge, can affect vulval and perianal areas.

- Bacterial vaginosis is another common cause of persistent increased vaginal discharge. Bacterial vaginosis presents with white or grey fishy smelling discharge. The etiology is unknown. It is advisable to avoid douching and the use of soap, bubble baths and shower gels in genital area which may alter the PH (acidity) and eradicate lactobacillus and thus make one susceptible to vaginosis.

- Urea plasma urealiticum and Chlamydia are associated with mucopurulent cervicitis producing mucopurulent yellowish discharge.
Benign/malignant lesions of cervix, endometrium ovary may cause watery foul smelling and bloody discharge per vagina.

It is, I hope, now evident that all women especially post-menopausal must take unusual vaginal discharge seriously and seek medical advice promptly from the gynaecologist. This may also involve complete screening for sexually transmitted disease, and microbiological examination of swabs of high vagina, cervical canal, and the urethra.Ultrasonography of abdomen and pelvis may also be called for. Sexually transmitted disease infections require that the partner of a patient screened for STD be treated for infection that has been identified.
Appropriate management of unusual vaginal discharge is essential for maintaining the health of the family. Early diagnosis and good follow up are vital for successful treatment.

You have to do this for a safe and smooth pregnancy and to ensure the health and safety of the little one that is blooming within your body. The little bud is very tender and delicate and not in a condition to look after itself, so you need to take care of its health and well being. We will focus on the do s and do not s of your early pregnancy days.
Regular medical examination

It is important that you keep track of how the fetus is growing, whether there is any complication. For this you should go for regular check ups.

Check whether there are any chances of German measles

If detected with the pathogen of German measles (Rubella) there is a possibility of miscarriage or fetal deformity.

Doses of prenatal vitamins and proteins

By the proper intake of vitamins, the pregnant mother can reduce the risk of diabetes. The RDA is 75 grams of protein for pregnant women but even 100 grams are recommended by the dieticians.

Intake of fats and fibers, along with exercise

As a pregnant mother, now you have to include fats and cholesterols which you avoid in your day to day life. You are also expected to do exercise to keep your weight under control, there are certain exercises which not only help in weight control but keep your muscles fit and strong so that you can tolerate the labor pain.

The do not s are more in number than do s when it comes to your early pregnancy days. The do not s are arranged serially below under the following headings.

Avoid alcohol and smoking

Alcohol can produce deformities in your little one. In its extreme case FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome) can produce a mentally retarded baby. Cigarette smokes can result in abortion, infant death and low weight baby.

Do not take illegal drugs

Avoid taking drugs like aspirin unless and until advised by your doctor. They can result in eye defects, heart murmurs in the fetus.

Avoid eating hot dogs and caffeine

The consumption of the above increases the risk of cancer in you and your new born.

Avoid contact with ticks and reptiles

Tick bites can open you to a disease called the lyme disease. While reptiles have a pathogen called salmonella which is a virus, which can affect your early pregnancy days.

Avoid supplementing vitamin A

Never even think of substituting vitamin A in your diet, as it would increase the risk of the child getting any kind of physical deformities.

We have succinctly described some of the crucial points which you need to know as a pregnant mother during your early pregnancy days.

Of all cases, somewhere around 70% is caused by the bacterium E-coli (Escherichia coliform). E-coli actually lives quite naturally in the bowel and is mostly harmless. However when it gets into the bladder it will breed rapidly and start causing symptoms within hours. Bacterium will usually enter the bladder through the urethra due to cross contamination from the bowel, though can make its way through the digestion system, if contaminated food is consumed. Blood diseases which include high blood pressure and also purpura, and can cause excessive bleeding. Emotional stress and tension can also bring about excessive bleeding.

Endometriosis, particularly ovarion endometriosis is another cause of excessive bleeding. Menorrhagia or heavy periods can be induced by fibroids – a uterine tumor. Physical diseases can also bring on menorrhagia such as thyroid under function (also called myxoedema). Under function in a thyroid gland can induce excessive body weight.

Obviously, there are certain factors, such as age and race which you can do nothing about. However, it has been shown that by maintaining a healthy weight you can help reduce further growth of existing fibroids. This is because fibroids are “fueled” by excess estrogen and this is both stored in and manufactured by fat cells. Therefore, the lower the quantity, the less estrogen in the body. With regard to diet, there are a couple of things to bear in mind. Firstly, it is known that women who eat a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables are less likely to have fibroids. In addition, consuming plenty of dark green vegetables, such as kale and cabbage is thought to help reduce fibroid size.

There are a small handful of alternative practitioners who will teach women how to shrink uterine fibroids naturally but there are very few of these and they tend to have very long waiting lists and costs are often high as the demand is so great. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take right away which can be very helpful and are often used as part of an overall strategy for shrinking fibroids.

Related Causes

There are other uterine problems that also contribute to infertility.

1- Uterual Fibroids (i.e. non-cancerous bumps on the uterine walls

2- Clogged Fallopian tubes because of ectopic pregnancy surgery, pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis

3- Physical problems with the uteru

Types Of Incisions
The placement of breast implants must be done carefully to ensure that the person is not allergic to any material used in the implant. To avoid contracture (i.e the shortening of a muscle in the human body in response to stress exerted on that muscle or tendon) these implants are positioned under the breast tissue and the muscles of the chest.

The cream sold for women have received positive feedback from majority of the consumers who invested in buying the product. Many have reported that they really experienced the intended effect the product was claiming. The difference of the magnitude of effect lies on the persons bodily characteristics. Although no conclusive and differentiating evidence have been established, people of varying weight and height have reported to experiencing different time for the onset of the effect. Female subjects who have greater weight and height have approximately longer time for the effect to sink in.

Treatment Alternatives

There are a couple of thinning hair products available online that work for both women and men. Provillus is a mix of oral and topical treatment. They offer a men’s and women’s version of their product. Nisim, a topical hair loss treatment manufacture claims that their hair loss shampoos will work for men or women in the same time frame.

Chiropractic care has become so popular for treating pregnant women, that there are even programs available to aid cover the cost of such treatments. Chiropractic care is still relatively inexpensive compared to most medical options, so one will probably find it quite affordable, even without assistance. Chiropractic doctors are neither trained nor licensed to recommend drugs or execute surgery. Chiropractic involves a non-invasive and drug-free therapy and hence it does not have any side-effects and is not usually painful. Chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy yield a number of benefits, both in terms of instant symptom relief and long-term health of the mother and baby.

Some further benefits realized by chiropractic care are controlling symptoms of morning sickness, reducing labor and delivery time, avoiding a potential caesarean section, relieving back, neck and joint pain, and bringing about a healthier pregnancy in general. A chiropractic doctor will know exactly what works best for pregnant women.

Stress can contribute to hair loss in all people. Also particular medical troubles and health issues can also cause men or women to lose hair for no other apparent reason. These types of hair loss are often short lived and not permanent. What we’re more interested in is the type of thinning hair that causes premature balding from the front to the back of the scalp.

Silicone Gel Implants – Silicone gel implants come pre-filled, meaning that there is no fill to be added. The only disadvantage to a pre-filled implant is that the incision will have to be a bit longer, depending on the size of the implant to be inserted.

Aside from health problems, lifestyle and genetic elements can also cause infertility in women. To include:

- Cigarette smoking & alcohol consumption

- Insufficient nutrient intake due to poor diet

- Age

- Too much physical activity

- Excessive stress

- Overweight or underweight conditions

- STIs

- Health issues that affect the body’s hormone producing abilities
